Purpose-built and unique in Oxfordshire, the farm is ideally placed to support environmental education. Set in 48 hectares, it is a livestock farm with a wide range of animals. Together with farm trails, ponds, planted woodland, arable land and a diverse collection of agricultural machinery, the farm has a great deal to offer anyone who wishes to learn more about farming and the environment. Vocational
Course Information We offer several vocational courses in both agriculture and horticulture. All of the courses are continuously assessed – practical work is monitored and assessed and students’ portfolios are completed as part of their routine. There are no formal written examinations on any of the courses. We currently offer the following vocational courses: (click on the course name for a fuller description)
GCSE in Environmental & Land Based Studies As part of the range of science GCSEs offered to the pupils at The Warriner School, the farm delivers a GCSE in Environmental and Land Based Studies. We
are pleased to be able to offer a service to other schools who wish to run this
GCSE course, but do not have all the necessary facilities on their own site. Our
staff will teach the hands-on livestock element (Unit 5 Livestock Husbandry),
here at the farm as a short course, in a series of four one-day group visits.
These visits also provide an opportunity for assessment evidence to be
gained for the assessed elements of the qualification. Please
follow this link for details: The cost of this option from September 2011 will be £100 per visit.
