Outreach Programme |
We aim to provide a unique venue for educational visits through our outreach
programme (click
here for booklet), catering for:
The farm has a full-time member of staff (Bev James) dedicated to the
provision of these visits, craft workshops and tailor-made activities either on
the farm premises, or in your own school. (See VISITS
page for details of cost)
Possible workshops include:
| Spinning
and Weaving
Preparation of fleece
for handspinning, learning to use a drop spindle with an assortment of
fleece, including some from our own sheep. Weaving with paper, wool and other natural materials, learning
about different weaving patterns and equipment.

Feltmaking
Learning how to make felt from fleece. Pupils
will each make a piece of felt, then work together to make a collaborative piece to display in their own
classroom.

| Natural
dyeing
Dyeing wool, fabric and
paper using a selection of natural dyestuffs, collected from the farm
where possible, depending upon the season. This workshop will cover a selection of methods including marbling,
tie dye and resist dyeing. |

3D
Projects An
opportunity to make something large and messy! We have plenty of space for
children to make more ambitious sculptures than they may be able to work
on in their own classrooms. We can offer wire and modroc modelling and
willow sculpture - how about making a lifesize sheep to take back to your
school?
